Riley Virus

Riley virus (V. riley) is one of the most dangerous and little-studied viruses, which was discovered in the early 2000s. This virus got its name in honor of Victoria Riley, who was the first victim of this disease.

Riley virus belongs to the herpesvirus family and causes acute pneumonia. It is transmitted through air droplets and contact with infected objects. Symptoms include high fever, cough, difficulty breathing, chest pain and weakness. Typically, the mortality rate from Riley virus is about 50%.

Despite the fact that Riley virus was discovered more than twenty years ago, its mechanism of action and origin still remain unknown. Scientists suggest that the virus originated in Africa and was transferred to other continents as a result of globalization.

There is currently no specific vaccine or treatment for Riley virus. To prevent infection, it is necessary to follow hygiene measures: regularly wash your hands, avoid contact with infected people and surfaces, and wear masks in public places.
