Intestinal-renal reflux (R. intestinalis) is a syndrome that occurs as a result of damage to the intestinal system during chronic pyelonephritis. This collective concept includes complications of kidney inflammation in the form of reflux of urine contents from the kidneys into the small intestines. These include gastroduodenitis, duodenogastric, gastroenteroduodenal, gastroesophageal and duodeno-duodenal reflux. Gastropathy is cyclical or chronic in nature, occurring with frequent exacerbation of glomerulonephritis or pyelonephritis, so they are considered a sign of a peculiar disorder of gastrointestinal motility. The exact pathophysiological explanation for the development of these syndromes remains unclear. Most scientists attribute reflux to both orthopedic and neuroreflex disorders.
