Sedotussin

Sedotussain is a drug that is widely used to treat coughs and other symptoms of throat irritation. It is a non-narcotic antitussive and is available in two dosage forms: suppositories for children weighing 20 mg and an oral solution with a volume of 1.5 grams per milliliter.

The manufacturer of the drug is the company YUSB S.A., located in Belgium. Sedotus has been produced since 2005 and has the international trademark "Pentoxyver".

The main component of the drug, pentoxiver, is a sucralfate compound that has anti-inflammatory and antihistamine effects. It reduces the sensitivity of the cough center and normalizes mucus production, which reduces the amount of mucus and phlegm. The effect of the drug lasts from several hours to a day, depending on the individual characteristics of the body.

The drug is recommended for use in adults and children over 3 years of age. It is taken once a day with plenty of liquid. The dosage is set individually, in accordance with the body weight and condition of the patient. Typically the recommended dose is 40-80 mg per day, but not more than 160 mg for adults and not more than 80 mg for children.

In case of overdose or acute allergy to the components of the drug, nausea, vomiting and headache may occur. In such cases, you should consult a doctor immediately. In addition, Sedotussan should be avoided in case of severe diseases of the cardiovascular system, liver, kidneys, during pregnancy and lactation.

It is important to note that Sedotusan should not be used in children under 3 years of age without consulting a doctor. It is also not intended for use in children with significant impairment of liver or kidney function.

The overall safety and effectiveness of the use of sedotusan in pregnant or breastfeeding women has not been proven, so it is not recommended for these groups of patients to take this drug without a doctor's approval.
