Silver nitrate is a substance that has a local cauterizing effect. If ingested, it causes burns to the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, esophagus, and stomach. The extent of damage depends on the concentration of the drug.
In case of poisoning, vomiting of white masses that darken in the light is observed. Pain occurs when swallowing, along the esophagus and in the stomach area. Burn shock may develop.
Treatment for poisoning includes:
1-2. Abundant gastric lavage with 2% sodium chloride solution.

Ingestion of activated carbon.

Treatment of burns according to the same scheme as for poisoning with strong acids.
