Acute radiation syndrome
Acute radiation syndrome is a complex of symptoms associated with the effects of radiation on the human body. Radiation can cause a variety of health problems ranging from mild to severe, such as radiation burns to the skin and mucous membranes, cancer and even death. Moreover, radiation can be dangerous even in small doses, since long-term exposure to low doses of radiation increases the risk of developing cancer and other diseases. Therefore, all people working with radiation (for example, doctors, scientists, military personnel) need to take precautions to reduce the risks to their health and the safety of others.
