Smell from the mouth

Smell from the mouth

Usually unpleasant, it occurs more often with diseases of the gums, teeth, nasopharynx, paranasal cavities, esophagus, stomach, and lungs. In some cases, bad breath is a sign of diabetes mellitus (see Diabetes mellitus), kidney inflammation (see Nephritis) or other diseases of the internal organs, primarily the gastrointestinal tract.

If odor occurs, you should contact your dentist to determine the cause and appropriate treatment. First of all, it is necessary to carry out a thorough sanitation of the oral cavity (see Mouth, oral cavity, sanitation of the oral cavity); then consultation with other specialists may be necessary.

Temporarily eliminate (mask) bad breath using dental elixirs (Ideal, Lemon, Special) and lotions (Balm, Lemon, Cucumber, Eau de toilette, Rose water). To rinse your mouth, take 20 drops of elixir per glass of water. To prevent odor, it is advisable to rinse your mouth with water after every meal and after sleep; careful care of your teeth and dentures is necessary (see Teeth, care). An important measure to prevent bad breath is timely sanitation of the oral cavity, careful implementation of all doctor’s advice in the presence of certain diseases, primarily diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
