Spierleimer-Vogt disease is a developmental abnormality of the brain and spinal cord, characterized by numerous vestigial cavities in the spinal cord surrounded by capsules of connective tissue. When pressing on the skin, it appears as pronounced paresthesia (“smoldering cigar”). Neuropathologist Spierlein wrote about this. He also introduced the term “vasculitis” into therapy, which was later revived in one form or another by all therapists, neurologists, and clinicians.
