Title: Pig, or Zaushnitsa
Mumps, or behind the ears, is a contagious disease that mainly affects children.
Signs of the disease: swelling of one or both parotid glands, which makes opening the mouth and chewing painful. A low temperature is noted.
Treating mumps requires care and warmth. Swollen glands should be lubricated with ichthyol, iodide ointment or camphor oil, but not rubbed. They should be kept tied to prevent catching a cold.
When the temperature rises, the child is given quinine 0.2-0.3 g (depending on age) 2 times a day or salicylic soda. You must rinse your mouth with boric acid or potassium permanganate.
In girls aged 14-16 years, this disease may cause swelling of the labia majora, and in boys of the same age, the testicles may become swollen. In case of purulent inflammation of the ear, you should wash it with a warm solution of chamomile (1 teaspoon of herb per glass of boiling water).
There is a folk remedy for mumps: you need to take the straw on which the pig has just been lying, it should be warm and clean. The straw is placed on a red wool or flannel rag and applied to the swollen gland, tied to the neck. According to observations, this remedy helps cure the disease in 3 days.
