Sympathetic Trunk Borderline

The borderline sympathetic trunk is one of the divisions of the autonomic nervous system. It belongs to the sympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system and innervates the internal organs in the abdominal area.

The borderline sympathetic trunk begins from the lower thoracic and lumbar sections of the sympathetic trunk. It passes through the diaphragm along with the inferior vena cava and is located along its course within the abdominal cavity in front and slightly to the left. The branches of the sympathetic trunk innervate the internal organs of the abdominal cavity - liver, gall bladder, stomach, intestines, kidneys, adrenal glands, etc.

Thus, the sympathetic trunk border plays an important role in regulating the activity of the internal organs of the abdominal cavity within the sympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system.
