Taketsa Probo

Takets' test is a diagnostic test proposed by American surgeon Andrew Takechi Taketsu in 1937 to detect occult fractures of the skull.

Andrew Takets (1892-1964) - Japanese-American neurosurgeon. Born in 1892 in Japan. Graduated from Kyoto Imperial University Medical School. In 1920 he emigrated to the USA. He worked as a neurosurgeon in hospitals in Chicago and St. Louis. In 1937, he published an article in which he described a new diagnostic test for detecting skull fractures.

The essence of the Takets test is as follows: a patient who presumably has a closed craniocerebral injury is punctured with a lumbar (spinal) needle. If bloody cerebrospinal fluid flows out, this indicates the presence of a hidden fracture of the skull bones with damage to the dura mater.

The Takets test is still widely used by neurosurgeons to diagnose skull fractures. It allows you to detect even microcracks in bones that are invisible on x-rays.
