Composition - Active substance - lamotrigine
Indications for use - Seizures: convulsive (tonic-clonic), partial and generalized, with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (resistant to other anticonvulsants)
Contraindications - Hypersensitivity, severe liver dysfunction, liver failure, pregnancy and lactation, children under 12 years of age
Side effects - Headache, dizziness, drowsiness, sleep disturbances, feeling tired, aggressiveness, confusion, nausea, liver dysfunction, lymphadenopathy, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, angioedema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic skin necrosis, skin rash
Interaction - Other anticonvulsants (carbamazepine, phenytoin, valproic acid) that induce the cytochrome P450 system, paracetamol accelerate elimination
Overdose - Symptoms: ataxia, nystagmus, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, vomiting, coma. Treatment: gastric lavage, activated carbon
Special instructions - Abrupt withdrawal of lamotrigine may cause an increase in seizures, so the dose should be reduced gradually
