Types of abortions
Medical abortion
This method is used to terminate pregnancy up to 8 weeks. The woman receives a special drug for medical abortion. After taking the tablets, the patient should be under medical supervision for two hours. About half of women develop uterine contractions and have a miscarriage. Otherwise, an additional dose of the drug is required after three days. After a medical abortion, a woman must appear for a follow-up examination with a gynecologist three days later.
Mini abortion
Mini-abortion or vacuum aspiration is the termination of an unwanted pregnancy in the early stages (up to twelve weeks), by removing the fertilized egg with a special vacuum suction. This method significantly reduces the possibility of complications: damage to the uterus, bleeding and infection.
Classic (instrumental) abortion
This method is used in most cases and causes the greatest number of complications. A classic abortion is performed under anesthesia. To remove the fetus, the doctor dilates the cervix with metal rods of different diameters.
Late pregnancy termination
In a number of situations, it becomes necessary to terminate a pregnancy in later stages. In such cases, the doctor performs a minor caesarean section.
