Virchow's syphilides is one of the diagnostic names for the infectious agent (treponema pallidum) that causes syphilitic infection; in honor of the German scientist Rudolf Karl Virchow. Characteristically, an inflammatory change occurs (syphilitic granulomas) and ulceration of the tissue into which the pathogen penetrates.
