What tests should you take during pregnancy?

Pregnancy is a special condition that requires careful monitoring by doctors. In addition to regular examinations, expectant mothers need to undergo various tests to monitor their own health and the development of the child. Let's take a closer look at which studies are mandatory, which ones you can refuse, as well as additional procedures performed during pregnancy.

Mandatory tests:

  1. General and biochemical blood test, including determination of blood sugar levels. They are taken at the beginning of pregnancy and then before each examination by a doctor.

  2. General urine analysis and bacteriological culture.

  3. Smears for flora and cytology from the vagina, cervical canal and rectum.

  4. Stool analysis.

  5. Blood test for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C.

Tests prescribed by a doctor:

  1. Determination of the Rh factor and blood group of both parents.

  2. Thyroid hormones.

  3. Genetic screening for fetal chromosomal abnormalities.

  4. Tests for TORCH infections, STDs.

Other examinations during pregnancy:

  1. Ultrasound of the fetus in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd trimesters.

  2. Cardiotocography to monitor the fetal heartbeat.

  3. Measurement of blood pressure and weight at every visit to the doctor.

  4. Fluorography and analysis for staphylococcus in a partner before childbirth.

Thus, during pregnancy, careful monitoring of the health of the woman and the fetus is necessary. The mandatory minimum of tests is carried out free of charge, the rest are prescribed on the recommendation of a doctor. Regular monitoring will allow timely identification and correction of possible complications.
