Composition: Active substance - Simvastatin.

Indications for use: Hypercholesterolemia in the absence of effect from diet therapy, combined hypercholesterolemia and triglyceridemia, coronary artery disease, prevention of myocardial infarction and stroke, atherosclerosis.

Contraindications: Hypersensitivity, acute liver dysfunction, severe renal failure, pregnancy, breastfeeding, childhood.

Side effects: Dyspeptic symptoms, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, exacerbation of pancreatitis and hepatitis, increased levels of transaminases, central nervous system disorders (headache, paresthesia, convulsions), myalgia, asthenia, myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, photosensitivity, allergic reactions (vasculitis, urticaria, arthralgia , thrombocytopenia, eosinophilia, angioedema, symptoms similar to lupus erythematosus).

Interaction: Immunosuppressive therapy, high doses of nicotinic acid, antifungal drugs - azole derivatives (ketoconazole, itraconazole) increase the risk of developing myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Enhances the effects of indirect anticoagulants, hepatotoxicity of alcohol and drugs that negatively affect the liver.

Overdose: Treatment: induction of vomiting, administration of activated charcoal, monitoring of liver, kidney, respiratory, cardiovascular functions and serum creatine kinase levels.

Special instructions: Before starting and during treatment, it is recommended to monitor liver function and prescribe with caution if it is impaired. During the course of therapy it is necessary to control cholesterol levels. Prescribe with caution to patients who abuse alcohol and/or have a history of liver disease, after organ transplantation, in conditions that may be accompanied by the development of severe renal failure. If you experience unexplained muscle pain, soreness or muscle weakness, you should consult a doctor. A significant increase in creatine phosphokinase levels or suspicion of myopathy requires discontinuation of the drug.
