How should a person traveling by sea behave?

A person traveling by sea experiences dizziness, nausea and vomiting; this happens in the first days, and after that they calm down and subside. You should not try to stop nausea and vomiting; on the contrary, you should leave them to vomit; however, if vomiting is excessive, it should be stopped.

As for the preliminary measure to prevent vomiting, there is nothing wrong with it. It consists of eating fruits such as quince, apple and pomegranate.

If you consume celery seeds, they will prevent nausea, but if it does arise, they will calm it down. Wormwood has the same effect.

The appearance of nausea is also prevented by the consumption of sour foods that strengthen the mouth of the stomach; it also prevents vapor from rising to the head. Sour includes lentils with vinegar, unripe grapes and a small amount of mint or thyme, or bread crumbled into aromatic wine or cold water containing thyme. It is also necessary to lubricate the inside of the nose with lead white.
