Indications. Ampiox is indicated for bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, cholangitis, cholecystitis, pyelitis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, infected wounds, skin infections, sepsis, postpartum infections, for the prevention and treatment of infections in newborns.
Directions for use and dosage. When taken orally, a single dose of ampiox for adults is 0.5-1.0 g, daily - 2-4 g.
Children from 3 to 7 years old are prescribed 100 mg/kg per day, from 7 to 14 years old - 50 mg/kg per day, over 14 years old - in an adult dose. The daily dose is divided into 4-6 doses.
Side effects. Possible nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions.
Contraindications. Hypersensitivity to penicillin.
