Anaphylactic shock is an acute allergic reaction that occurs when the body is repeatedly exposed to an allergen.
Causes of anaphylactic shock:
- Taking medications (usually antibiotics, anesthetics)
- Insect bites (bees, wasps, hornets)
- Eating certain foods
Risk group:
- Children with a hereditary predisposition to allergies
- People with a history of allergies
Symptoms:
- Weakness, dizziness
- Decreased hearing and vision
- Nausea, vomiting
- Heart and stomach pain
- Drop in blood pressure
- Loss of consciousness
Severity:
Mild - headache, dizziness, slight decrease in blood pressure.
Moderate - a sharp drop in blood pressure, weakness, visual and hearing impairment.
Severe - loss of consciousness, cessation of breathing and circulation.
Severe anaphylactic shock without timely treatment can be fatal. Therefore, it is important to immediately recognize the symptoms and call an ambulance.
