Binga Reflex

Binga Refex (1877-1963) was a Swiss neurologist, one of the first researchers of the vestibular and auditory systems. In 1911, Bing at the Swiss Clinic of Basel proposed a method of treating bathyanesthesia (“bitter treatment” or “tasty hearing”), in which pieces of black bread with the addition of vinegar, salt or mustard were placed in the ear canals. A patient with a balance disorder held and squeezed a piece of bread with his teeth, which caused him to quickly collapse.
