Essential oils

Essential oils are safe skin care products. Moreover, you can use them almost daily. Essential oils are obtained from the leaves, roots, stems, and flowers of aromatic plants. Oils are also present in the bark of trees and the peel of some citrus fruits. Essential oils can contain up to 250 components.

Application of essential oils

  1. To care for the skin of your face and neck, use only oils labeled “for professional aromatherapy.” These are top quality oils.

  2. Natural, high-quality essential oils have a quiet, even, clear, gradual scent reminiscent of the plant. Counterfeit oil smells aggressive, individual components drown out other odors, and sometimes the smell of alcohol, acetone or other technical impurities is clearly felt. As a rule, these are artificially reconstructed oils that imitate natural ones.

  3. Remember that most oils in their pure form cause slight redness and burning of the skin. This reaction is natural and goes away within 1-2 minutes.

  4. Do not apply undiluted essential oils to your skin, especially strong ones (cloves, cinnamon, almond, sage, nutmeg, etc.): this may cause burns or irritation. The exception is the oils of lavender, tea tree, sandalwood, frankincense, etc., which in some cases can be used undiluted.

  5. If you are prone to allergic reactions, you should do a sensitivity test before the procedure. To do this, apply a 2% mixture of essential oil to the inner surface of the arm, the elbow pit, the back of the neck or behind the ear. If there is no reaction, the procedure can be carried out after 12 hours.

  6. Particular care is required when using all citrus oils and bergamot oil. They cause uneven pigmentation and skin irritation when exposed to ultraviolet rays. Use these oils at least 4 hours before sun exposure.

  7. You should not use the same essential oils for more than three weeks without a break. By stopping using oil, you will allow each component to find its place in the body.

  8. One of the basic rules of aromatherapy is strict adherence to recommended dosages. In case of an overdose, nausea, emotional agitation or anxiety, and a state of prostration may occur. Stop contact with oil, go out into the air and ventilate the room.

  9. Spilled essential oil fills the entire room with its scent and can have an undesirable effect on the people in it. Immediately wipe the oil with a napkin and remove it from the room. If essential oil gets into your eyes, rinse them with clean vegetable oil, but not with water.

  10. Store essential oils in dark glass bottles, tightly closed, in a cool, dark place. Citrus oils are best stored in the refrigerator. When properly stored, essential oils retain their properties for at least a year, and oils of frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, rose, and patchouli only become refined over time.

  11. Essential oils are flammable. Leaving essential oils exposed near a fire may cause them to ignite.
