Histiocytomas are tumors composed of multinucleated giant cells, so-called histioid or fibroblastic figures, which exhibit atypical differentiation towards fibroblasts. All types of tumors are called histiocytes due to the fact that the tumor consists of their derivatives. The tumor can be localized both on the face and on the torso. Histiocytes are capable of releasing inflammatory mediators that cause characteristic changes in the skin and subcutaneous tissue. The formation of tumors of this type follows the path of tissue metaplasia - the layering of epithelial structures on connective tissue.
