How a girl supported those who are ashamed of their bodies. VIDEO

There are a lot of people in the world who suffer from complexes because of their “not quite ideal” figure, absorbing the gaze of thin and slender people. Yoga instructor, dancer and actress Jay West decided to attract public attention by encouraging people to love and accept themselves and their body as it is. To do this, she decided on a bold social experiment.

The experiment was organized by a group of activists, The Liberators International, of which Jay herself is a member. According to the plan, the girl was supposed to go out to Piccadilly Circus, blindfold herself and undress to her underwear. Jay held markers in both hands, and a sign was placed next to her that said that she was standing here in support of everyone who has ever experienced eating disorders and has problems with self-esteem, like West herself.

The inscription also contained an appeal: “If you agree that you need to accept yourself as you are, draw a heart on my body.”

For several minutes no one approached Jay. The girl says that this time lasted endlessly for her. But soon many passersby began to take markers from her hands and draw hearts. And after a couple of hours, almost the girl’s entire body was painted.

For Jay West, the issue of accepting herself and her body is of particular importance, because she suffered from an eating disorder for many years.

“I wanted to support everyone who has ever doubted their own appearance,” says the girl.
