Intraglobin: use, indications, contraindications and side effects
Intraglobin is a normal human immunoglobulin used in medicine for replacement therapy to prevent infections in various diseases and conditions associated with a disorder of the immune system. The drug is produced by Biotest Pharma GmbH in Germany and is one of the representatives of the pharmaceutical group of immunoglobulins.
Intraglobin is presented in several dosage forms: solution for intravenous injection 50 mg/ml, solution for intravenous injection 5%, solution for injection 2.5 g. The active ingredient is normal human immunoglobulin.
Indications for the use of Intraglobin include replacement therapy to prevent infections in primary immunodeficiency syndromes, such as agammaglobulinemia, common variable immunodeficiencies associated with a- or hypogammaglobulinemia, and deficiency of IgG subclasses. The drug is also used to prevent infections in secondary immunodeficiency syndrome caused by chronic lymphocytic leukemia, AIDS in children or bone marrow transplantation, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, Kawasaki syndrome (in addition to treatment with acetylsalicylic acid), severe bacterial and viral infections, prevention of infections in premature infants with low birth weight (less than 1500 g), Guillain-Barré syndrome, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, autoimmune neutropenia, partial red cell aplasia of hematopoiesis, thrombocytopenia of immune origin, including post-transfusion purpura, isoimmune thrombocytopenia of newborns, hemophilia caused by the formation of antibodies to coagulation factors, myasthenia gravis, prevention and treatment of infections during therapy with cytostatics and immunosuppressants, prevention of recurrent miscarriage.
Contraindications to the use of Intraglobin include hypersensitivity to human immunoglobulins, especially in patients with IgA deficiency due to the formation of antibodies to it.
When using Intraglobin, side effects are possible, such as allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, joint and muscle pain, fever, skin rash, burning, itching, urticaria, arthralgia, myalgia, lymphadenopathy, myasthenia gravis , agranulocytosis, thrombosis and bleeding.
The drug should be used only under the supervision of a physician, in specialized medical institutions, in compliance with all precautions and monitoring the patient's condition.
