Joseph Otto Platzmann was an outstanding German surgeon who is famous for his work in the field of otolaryngology and reconstructive surgery of the auricle. In 1941, he performed the first successful operation to correct a crooked nose, which became one of the key moments of his scientific career.
Joseph Otto was born in 1875 in Germany and entered medical school in Munich in 1895. He graduated from school in 1901 and began his professional career as a practicing surgeon. One of the first surgical interventions that Otto performed was on a woman's neck with destruction of the thyroid gland. This event helped him become recognized
