Karyokinesis

Karyokinesis (from the Greek kaion - nucleus, kinesis - movement) is the property of a cell to divide, that is, both during mitosis (division of somatic cells) and as a result of meiosis (division of sex cells), as a result of which the number of chromosomes in the cell is halved.

Movement of the cytoplasm in the direction of the polar star (centrosomal). Division is carried out thanks to microtubules, which diverge from the metaphase zone to the cell poles.

Nuclear division is accompanied by a constriction, which divides the set of chromosomes in two. This results in two daughter cells with a diploid set of chromosomes (2n4c).
