**Cystic fibrosis** (CF), also **cystic fibrosis of the pancreas** is a hereditary monogenic disease caused by a mutation of the *CFTR* gene, which leads to disruption of the function of all exocrine glands and a change in the quantity and qualitative composition of the secretion they secrete.
