Wound

Wound is a medical term; in everyday speech, this term usually means a deep longitudinal scratch with something sharp on any part of the human body. Often the wound is accompanied by various damage to the skin and underlying tissue (laceration), and concomitant damage to blood vessels and muscles is not uncommon. The definition of a wound also applies to perforation of the hard tissues of an animal or bird - for example, a dog (perforated ulcerative bleeding).
