Gastric Resection Palliative

Gastric resection is a surgical operation in which part of the stomach wall is removed to reduce its volume and relieve pressure inside. It is performed for stomach diseases such as cancer, ulcers, gastroduodenitis, etc., as well as if it is necessary to reduce the volume of the stomach due to complications. Resection is used for both curative and palliative purposes. In the latter case, the goal is to reduce pain and improve the patient's quality of life.

Palliative treatment does not eliminate the cause of the disease, but only helps reduce its consequences. For example, palliative care can help relieve cancer pain or pain after surgery.
