The device consists of the following parts (Fig. 1, a): housing 5, made of light and durable material; a slightly curved lever (for ease of attaching the device to the athlete’s thigh) 4, at the upper end of which a recorder is mounted; a connecting plate made of light and durable metal, also somewhat curved for ease of fastening of device 1; electric switch 2; paper tape on which the movement of the skier's legs 3 is recorded; power source 6. The connecting plate (Fig. 1.6) has longitudinal slots 7 through which the waist belt is threaded to attach the device to the athlete’s thigh. 8 holes are made in the lower part of the plate, with the help of which the tape drive mechanism is attached.

The double-arm lever (Fig. 1, c) has a recorder 9, 10 at the upper end and can move freely in the anterior-posterior direction, which is achieved thanks to the hole 11, with which the lever is attached to the body of the device. The recorder is mounted in a separate plate 12, which is attached to one of the arms of the lever using a hinge device 13. The tape drive mechanism (Fig. 1, d) includes a power battery 14, a switch 15, a micromotor 16 and a gear system 17...22. The tape transport system includes a take-up reel 23.

At the beginning of the skier's movement, the tape drive mechanism is turned on. As the leg moves forward, the arms of the lever also move; its lower end, together with the thigh of the leg, moves forward, while the upper end with the recorder mounted in it goes back, drawing curves of a strictly defined shape on a paper tape, corresponding to the methods of movement on skis. A double-arm lever repeats all movements of the legs and torso, and the recording device records all these movements on a paper tape. As the method of movement changes, the form of graphic recording also changes accordingly. At the end of the skiers' movement, the tape transport mechanism is turned off, the paper tape is removed from the receiving drum, and the resulting graphic recording is immediately deciphered. This allows the trainer to give appropriate adjustments to students directly during the training process.
