Anisun - anise

Essence.
These are the seeds of the "Rumian fennel" They are not as sharp as the Nabatean seeds, but are sweeter and hotter than them.

Choice.
The best seeds are young and large, from which a very fragrant husk, similar to bran, is separated. Cretan anise is better than Egyptian.

Nature.
Galen says:  “He is hot in the second degree, dry in the third,” and Paul says:  “He is hot and dry in the third degree.”

Actions and properties.
Anise opens blockages, is slightly astringent, soothes pain, drives away sweat and, especially if roasted, dissolves winds. Anise has a pungency that approaches that of a fiery medicine.

Tumors and acne.
Anise is useful for puffiness of the face and swelling of the limbs.

Organs of the head.
If anise is smoked and its vapor is inhaled through the nose, it soothes headaches and dizziness. If you grind it, mix it with rose oil and put it in your ears, it heals cracks formed in them from a push or blow, as well as pain in the ears.

 Organs of the eye.
Anise helps with pannus.

Respiratory and chest organs.
Anise makes breathing easier and increases milk production.

 Nutritional organs.
Anise stops thirst excited by liquids with the properties of bavrac, and helps with blockage of the liver and spleen by any liquids. Eruption organs.

It enhances the secretion of urine and leucorrhoea, cleanses the uterus of liquid white discharge, and encourages intercourse. Anise often firms the belly, aided by its diuretic properties. It opens blockages in the kidneys, bladder and uterus.

Fevers.
Anise is useful for old fever.

Poisons.
Anise resists the harmful effects of poisons and reptiles. The full dose at one time separately is half a dirham. It is corrected with fennel officinalis.
