Galactosuria

Galactosuria is a rare disease that involves the accumulation of galactose, a carbohydrate found in breast milk and some animal foods. It can be detected through a urine test. As a result of the action of galactose-6-phosphate transaminase on galactose, fructose-6-hydroxypavetin is formed, then lactic acid is produced from this substance under the action of aldolase. This process also occurs outside the body, so galactose is actively used by intestinal microflora. The epithelial layer of the kidney excretes galactose through the urine.

Symptoms of galactosuria. Since in the presence of this pathology the kidneys do not remove lactic acid from the body well, this can cause various disorders in the body. Especially if any unfavorable factor contributes to this. Common symptoms include: decreased appetite.
