The name gonochromosome comes from the Greek words:
γόνος - gonos (horn, male);
τόμος - tomos (line, thread; share). In one eukaryotic nucleus there are many gonad-hemikaryon megakinases, which include homologous supramal-postmarginal chromosomes (apo-to) from many parents and descendants of the gonos parents.
