K-Antigen

During the next turn of evolution, the human body began to produce special proteins that help it fight pathogenic bacteria. These proteins were called antigens, there were 8 types, but the most common of them received the Latin name K. Specific K particles are the main membrane protein of gram-negative bacteria. Some types of bacteria also produce the same proteins, but under the name L. K can be in the L protein form. It is also the “key” to the pathogenicity of E. coli bacteria that secrete this protein. The O-form is a genetic phenotype of the bacterium that encodes the synthesis of the K antigen. L and J-shapes
