Cola syndrome (also known as palmoplantar anhidrosis) is a rare genetic disease accompanied by dysfunction of the sweat glands. At first glance, a person may seem completely healthy, but with prolonged exposure to cold, sunlight or ultraviolet radiation, a white or slightly pinkish surface of the skin in the armpits and groin area begins to appear, and seborrheic dermatitis may also appear.
The first to describe this disease was in 1939 by the American dermatologist and dermatovenerologist Henry Cole. The etiology, pathogenesis and connection of the syndrome with specific hereditary diseases have been little studied. It is one of the examples of complex hereditary diseases. Mechanotherapy, physiotherapy, solariums are possible treatment methods. Patients with the syndrome should be monitored by a qualified geneticist.
