With age, metabolic processes in cells slow down, which means that the cells no longer receive normal nutrition. Care for aging facial skin involves greater attention to hydration and cosmetic procedures that ensure adequate nutrition of the skin.

The condition of the skin is influenced by the work of all organs and systems of our body, especially the endocrine, digestive and nervous. In other words: “The face is the mirror of our body.” Diseases, severe emotional stress, unhealthy diet, alcohol and smoking abuse are the main factors of premature aging of our skin, which are primarily reflected on our face.
Sudden weight loss causes sagging skin on the face and the formation of wrinkles, and incorrect posture provokes the appearance of a double chin. Try to always keep your back straight and your head high!
How to prolong youth and beauty?
First of all, it is worth reviewing your diet. Include foods containing bioflavonoids, which protect the heart muscle from premature aging and slow down the formation of wrinkles. These include many fruits and vegetables, especially red grapes, beets and plums. Antioxidants will help counteract the destructive effects of direct sunlight, cigarette smoke and polluted air on our bodies.
Our skin also easily reacts to unfavorable weather conditions - cold, wind, sudden temperature fluctuations. Loss of elasticity and earlier appearance of wrinkles lead to premature aging of the face. The main antioxidants that help our rejuvenation are vitamins A, E, C and selenium. Increase your consumption of nuts, citrus fruits, sauerkraut, carrots, and liver.
One of the important factors of a healthy lifestyle is physical activity. Don't forget about morning exercises, walks in the fresh air and positive emotions!
Dry skin can be congenital or a consequence of various diseases, for example, the nervous or endocrine system. With age, even skin that was normal in youth becomes drier. Dry, aging skin needs special care, in which pride of place should be given to nourishing and moisturizing masks, which should be done 2-3 times a week. Read also: Kefir masks for facial skin at home
Many herbal products, fresh juice or pulp from vegetables and fruits are suitable for caring for aging skin; for example, an apple has a good rejuvenating effect. Apple helps against fine wrinkles and tightens the skin, and also slows down the aging process. Tomatoes are useful for those who care about beauty, as they also have anti-aging properties, smooth out wrinkles and improve complexion. For a visible effect, rejuvenating masks for aging skin should be used regularly. To keep the skin elastic, it is recommended to constantly massage the face and neck.
It is no secret that strong exposure to cold on the skin leads to rapid fading and aging. That is why it is important to reduce and, if possible, mitigate the effects of frosty weather. The first rule is to cleanse the skin especially gently. Wipe it with rich milk. In winter, in rooms with central heating, moisture evaporates very actively from the surface of the skin. This is fraught with premature aging. In addition, in winter, metabolism throughout the body slows down, which means that the skin recovers more slowly than usual and becomes dehydrated. Therefore, a moisturizer is necessary, but it should be applied in the evening, when you no longer plan to go outside.
The sun, like frost and strong wind, can dry out any skin, so in summer, skin hydration is a vital necessity and protection against rapid fading. Products with a UV filter will help you avoid the harmful effects of sunlight. For anti-aging care, express wrinkle fillers are suitable for instantly smoothing the skin. For long-term results, you need to use anti-aging products regularly. The enzymes in their composition accelerate metabolic processes in cells. It is useful to tighten the oval of the face with products containing grape seed extracts.

Natural masks for aging skin
It is better to apply all tightening masks while lying down, and keep them on your face only while lying down! This is done so that the skin, naturally smoothed out after you lie on your back, remains that way, especially after the action of a lifting mask. If you applied a lifting mask and continued to do your business, be prepared for the fact that the skin, weighted by the mask, will, on the contrary, be pulled down!
Therefore, to get a good tightening effect, ask someone to help you apply the mask when you are lying down, or, if you are making the mask yourself, as soon as it is applied, immediately lie down on a flat surface (without a pillow).
Lifting masks can be done no more than 2-3 times a month.

Firming masks for aging skin
Firming masks based on gelatin (gelatin masks)
Masks, one of the main components of which is gelatin, are recommended for mature skin with obvious signs of aging, when the contours of the face have already begun to change, there are noticeable wrinkles, and the skin becomes sagging. Read also: The best masks for facial rejuvenation at home
When gelatin diluted in water cools on the face, it thickens, which provides a mechanical tightening effect. Gelatin is sold in the confectionery departments of stores or grocery stores.
The remaining ingredients most often used in gelatin-based masks have the following properties:
Zinc oxide (zinc oxide, zinc white) – sold in pharmacies, has anti-inflammatory, drying, astringent and antiseptic effects.
The drug has side effects (!): skin redness, itching, rashes, so before using this component, make sure that you tolerate it well.
Glycerol – viscous, colorless liquid (sold in pharmacies). Glycerin increases the viscosity of any liquid, prevents the mask or ointment it contains from drying out, has an antiseptic effect, whitens, and softens the skin.
It has no contraindications.
Honey also often used in gelatin-based masks. It is best to use light varieties of honey (vegetable). Before using honey, you must make sure that you are not allergic to it.
Preparing a gelatin-based mask
Gelatin-based masks can be prepared in reserve (they can be stored in the refrigerator for several days).
Dry gelatin should be poured with lukewarm water, stir well and wait until it swells and “disperses” (you need to wait about an hour).
All other desired components are mixed with the gelatin base and heated so that the gelatin is completely dissolved and the mass becomes homogeneous.
It is better to store the finished mask in a glass container.
Applying a gelatin-based mask
To apply a gelatin mask, you will need gauze or bandages, cut into pieces depending on the size of your face. It is better to have an assistant apply the mask to you when you are in a lying position (on a flat surface without a pillow).
You need to heat the mask in a water bath to a uniformly viscous state, dip a bandage or gauze into the mask. A long strip of bandage or gauze soaked in the solution is applied tightly so that it wraps around the jawline (under the lower jaw), cheeks, cheekbones and temples.
The second strip is placed tightly on the forehead from temple to temple. The third strip is applied to the nose from one ear to the other.
Important! All stripes applied to the face must be smoothed from the center to the periphery! (via “massage” lines)
If after applying the bandages you feel that they are not wet enough, you can apply another layer of mask on top of them.
You need to keep the gelatin-based mask on for at least 30 minutes, so that the composition completely thickens on your face.
After removing the mask, you need to apply the cream as usual and you can do makeup.
Proportions of ingredients for a gelatin-based mask
Option 1:
Gelatin 10g; glycerin 25-40g; zinc oxide 10-15g; water 40-50g.
Option 2 (with honey):
Gelatin 10g; honey 10-15g, glycerin 10-15g; zinc oxide 5-10g, water 50-60g.

Do you constantly notice that your skin is losing its elasticity, has become dehydrated, dry, enlarged pores have appeared, and your face has acquired a grayish tint? Don't know how to care for it to restore elasticity and a healthy complexion? We will suggest effective recipes for absolutely natural and inexpensive homemade masks, with regular use of which your skin will once again glow with health and youth, so be careful!
What information will you find out:
Why homemade masks are more effective than store-bought ones
Retail masks have a long shelf life
Many women, due to their busyness and fatigue after a hard day at work, prefer to use ready-made masks purchased in cosmetics stores, without thinking about their benefits and the quality of the ingredients. Everyone should know that a mask prepared at home from natural products will be fresh and usable for only 2 to 3 days, and then only if stored in the refrigerator.
Masks sold in retail stores have a long shelf life due to the presence of a large number of chemical components in their compositions, allowing them not to deteriorate for a year, or even 2 years. Most often, instead of the natural fruits and plants stated in the composition, special concentrates, flavors and thickeners are added, which have an adverse effect on our skin. Drawing a simple logical conclusion, it becomes completely clear that homemade masks are healthier and many times more effective than store-bought ones, and they are much cheaper in cost.
Rules for applying and using homemade masks
The standard exposure time for any mask on the face is 20 – 30 minutes.
In order not to be distracted by the same recommendations every time when describing recipes, we decided to compile a list of general rules that are identical when applying and using all masks without exception.
- Before applying the mask, the face must be thoroughly cleaned of all impurities and decorative cosmetics so that the active substances of the compositions can easily penetrate the skin.
- The standard exposure time for any mask on the face is 20–30 minutes, since it is during this period that the surface layers of the epidermis retain their maximum absorbency.
- You can change the recipe of masks as you wish only if you are allergic to any specific component. The correct thing to do is to conduct a 20-minute allergy test before using any new mask.
- Remove the remaining compounds from the face, as a rule, using warm boiled or filtered water, blotting with a disposable paper towel, followed by applying a caring cream suitable for your skin type.
- The best time to apply masks is considered to be the evening, as the skin is maximally renewed, regenerated and restored during the night.
- If you start using any recipe, try to do it regularly, that is, use it 1 - 2 times a week for a month to see the result and objectively evaluate its effectiveness.
The most effective recipes for homemade masks
To enrich the composition of masks, you can add oil concentrates of vitamins A and E
- Agave (aloe) juice in the amount of a tablespoon is mixed with the same volume of olive oil and a teaspoon of any nourishing cream (it can be replaced with heavy cream). The composition is mixed well and heated slightly.
Before use, aloe leaves are kept in the refrigerator for 2 weeks so that the active substances receive their maximum regenerating ability.
- A mask made from melted butter (a tablespoon), 1 egg yolk, a teaspoon of honey and a tablespoon of fresh apple, grated on a fine grater, has a complex effect (nourishes, regenerates, moisturizes).
- Tones, tightens, saturates with vitamins, regenerates and perfectly nourishes a mask consisting of yeast (a tablespoon), a small amount of warm milk (the mass should be thick), a teaspoon of honey and the same amount of flaxseed oil. All ingredients are mixed well, placed in a cup and lowered into a pan of hot water. When the fermentation process begins in the mass, it must be removed from the pan, stirred again, cooled until warm and immediately applied to the face.
- Whitens, nourishes and deeply moisturizes a mask made from fresh cucumber, grated on a fine grater, full-fat sour cream and currants, taken in the same ratio.

Pour the herbs into a glass of boiling water, leave for half an hour, add potato starch to thicken the mass.
- A rejuvenating and smoothing out fine wrinkles mask made from fresh birch leaves, crushed in a blender to a mushy mass (a tablespoon) includes a tablespoon of any plant-based oil (olive, cedar, coconut, wheat germ...) and a teaspoon of oatmeal.
- A fish oil mask (sold in a pharmacy) is distinguished by the presence of such valuable and essential acids as Omega 3 and 4, which are involved in the synthesis of collagen and elastin - the main building elements of the skin framework. To prepare it, take honey, boiled water and fish oil in equal proportions. Mix everything and apply to the face.
- A mask of red or black caviar (teaspoon), 1 egg yolk and white bread crumb, necessary for the thickness of the mixture, refreshes and actively rejuvenates.

Beat two egg whites into a thick foam, adding a teaspoon of lemon juice. Then olive oil (a tablespoon) and a decoction of bay leaves (2 tablespoons) are added to the mass.
To enrich the composition of the masks, you can add oil concentrates of vitamins A and E, which promote skin renewal and powerful protection of cells from aging (sold in pharmacies).

A mask of ripe mashed plums (3 pieces) contains ½ tablespoon of honey, raw egg yolk and oatmeal, added in a small amount to thicken the mixture. Plums can be replaced with apricots.
Gelatin-based masks are distinguished by the presence of animal collagen, which perfectly nourishes, moisturizes, tightens the facial contour and quickly rejuvenates aging skin.
- Powdered gelatin in the amount of 1/2 teaspoon is poured with water (half a glass) and wait for it to swell, after which it is heated a little over low heat until completely dissolved. One large cucumber is grated on a fine grater to obtain juice. Mix the resulting juice with gelatin and place the mixture in the refrigerator for 3 hours.
- A mask made of gelatin, honey and glycerin smoothes the skin and effectively copes with shallow wrinkles. Take 4 tablespoons of glycerin and water, add 2 teaspoons of honey and gelatin, put the mixture on the fire, and heat until the granules are completely dissolved. Then add 4 tablespoons more water to the mixture and mix everything well. Leave it in the refrigerator for several hours and start using it.
