Dosage forms - film-coated tablets 20 mg, film-coated tablets 40 mg, lyophilisate for the preparation of solution for intravenous administration 40 mg
Composition - Active substance - esomeprazole magnesium trihydrate.

Indications for use:

  1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis; long-term maintenance treatment of patients with cured esophagitis to prevent relapses; symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease.
  2. In combination with appropriate antibacterial therapy for eradication of Helicobacter pylori, as well as: treatment of duodenal ulcer associated with Helicobacter pylori; prevention of relapse of peptic ulcers in patients with peptic ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori.

Contraindications - Hypersensitivity to esomeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles or other ingredients of the dosage form.

Side effects - The drug is well tolerated. In rare cases, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, constipation, allergic reactions may occur.

Interaction:

  1. Reduced acidity in the stomach during treatment with esomeprazole may lead to a decrease or increase in the absorption of other drugs if the mechanism of absorption depends on the acidity of the environment.
  2. Esomeprazole inhibits CYP2C19, the main enzyme involved in its metabolism. Accordingly, the combined use of esomeprazole with other drugs in the metabolism of which CYP2C19 is involved, such as diazepam, citalopram, imipramine, clomipramine, phenytoin, etc., may lead to an increase in the concentrations of these drugs in plasma, which, in turn, will lead to the need dose reduction.

Overdose - No data.

Special instructions:

  1. Patients taking the drug for a long period (especially more than a year) should be under regular medical supervision.
  2. When prescribing the drug to pregnant women, caution should be exercised.
  3. It is not known whether esomeprazole is excreted in breast milk, therefore esomeprazole should not be prescribed during breastfeeding.
