Pallidum

The pallidum is an elliptical structure located in the hypothalamus. It was discovered in 1994 by a team of neuroscientists from the Paris Hospital School and was named after the Latin word pallidus, which means "pale" or "lifeless." The pallidum is part of a section called the pallium, which is located in the posterior hypothalamus of the brain. It is an important part of the system for regulating the internal environment and maintaining homeostasis; it is responsible for managing changes in body temperature and wakefulness. Overall, the pallidum plays an important role in regulating all sleep-related processes, including drowsiness, fatigue, body temperature and many others.

The pallidum consists of many neurons and gliocytes, together
