Procedure for Registration of a Newborn

State registration of a child’s birth is mandatory and necessary to protect his rights.

An application for the birth of a child must be made by parents or other authorized persons at the civil registry office at the place of birth or their residence within a month from the date of birth. At the same time, documents confirming the fact of birth, the identity of the parents and the applicant are submitted.

The grounds for registering a birth are a medical document about the birth or a statement from a person present at the birth outside a medical facility.

When registering, information about parents, their citizenship, nationality (optional) is indicated. The child's last name, first name and patronymic are recorded by agreement of the parents or instructions of the guardianship authority.

Upon application, a birth certificate is issued containing basic information about the child and his parents, as well as registration information.

Birth registration ensures the rights and interests of the child and therefore must be carried out in a timely manner.
