Medicinal plants are rarely used in medicine in their natural form. For gastrointestinal diseases, herbal medicines are used in the form of infusions, decoctions and tinctures. Plant materials are pre-crushed: leaves, flowers - to particles no more than 5 mm, stems, bark, roots, rhizomes - no more than 3 mm, fruits and seeds - no more than 0.5 mm.
The infusion is an aqueous extract from medicinal plant materials (leaves, flowers, stems). A decoction is also an aqueous extract from medicinal raw materials (bark, roots, rhizomes). Tincture at home is usually prepared with vodka. Infusions and decoctions are prepared from collections or teas (a mixture of dried and crushed medicinal plants). Quite often, fresh plant juice is also used for medicinal purposes.
The following are recipes for some medicinal herbal remedies used in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases: collections, decoctions, infusions of herbs, roots, leaves, flowers, fruits and seeds of plants such as fennel, marshmallow, chamomile, wheatgrass, licorice, valerian, watch, mint, centaury, knotweed, St. John's wort, blueberries, yarrow, immortelle, plantain, calamus, cumin, dried grass, cabbage, burdock, currants, lettuce, strawberries, aloe, etc.
Such dosage forms help in the treatment of gastritis, enteritis, colitis, peptic ulcers, and metabolic disorders. They are taken orally in the form of decoctions, infusions, and freshly squeezed juices.
