Water Cancer

Water cancer (obsolete) is a common name for breast cancer in the past.

This disease received this name because of the external resemblance of the tumor to a hermit crab. A tumor in breast cancer can resemble the shell of a cancer in its shape, and the liquid flowing from it can resemble the water in which it lives.

However, breast cancer actually has nothing to do with crustaceans or the aquatic environment. This is a malignant tumor that develops from the epithelium of the ducts or lobules of the mammary gland.

The name “water cancer” is today considered obsolete and is not used in medical practice. Instead, the modern medical term “breast cancer” is used.
