Iliac tubercle

The iliac tubercle, or iliac tubercle body (lat. tuber culum ilium) is an anatomical structure located on the lateral surface of the sacrum and consisting of several interconnected tubercles.

The iliac tuberosities are part of the sacrotuberous line, which runs along the lateral side of the sacrum, and form its convexity. They consist of several individual tubercles, which are interconnected by connective tissue and form a single whole.

As part of the sacrotuberous line, the iliac tuberosities play an important role in maintaining balance and coordinating body movements. They help maintain correct posture and prevent back injuries associated with poor body position.

In addition, the iliac tuberosities may be involved during certain physical activities such as running, jumping and other dynamic activities. They can help increase the strength and endurance of the hip and buttock muscles, as well as improve coordination.

However, with injuries or diseases of the joints, the iliac tuberosities can become a painful point. In such cases, consultation with a doctor and treatment may be required, which may include physical therapy, massage, or other treatments.

Thus, the iliac tuberosities are important for maintaining human health and well-being, and their proper functioning may be important for successful exercise and improved motor coordination.
