Neuron (from ancient Greek neuron - “thread”; from Greek νεῦρον - “vein”) is a nerve cell, a structural and functional unit of the nervous system; has a high degree of specialization.
Neurons consist of a cell body (soma), on which are located membrane vesicles, the functions of which can differ significantly from each other, forming the structural features of the cell, as well as a long dendrite for signal reception, capable of reaching up to a thousand neurons, and one or more short axons for transmission signal to other neurons.
