The Babinski reflex (or deep plantar reflex) is one of the simple techniques for studying the central nervous system in a person without any drugs, only through muscle contraction in response to irritation of the skin. When testing this reflex, doctors also practice with students of medical universities, since it is this test that allows a student or doctor to make a diagnosis in a short period of time and give an opinion on a “chain” of movements - from neurological dislocation of a joint and simple muscle spasm to complete paralysis of the body. This technique was also called the Hoffmann reflex, although some are of the opinion that it was actually scientifically described by V. Babinsky in 1875.
