Turpentine or turpentine is a colorless, odorless mixture consisting of organic components released during the distillation of resin (liquid resin) from Scots pine or fragrant honeysuckle (spruce). These components include: turpentine essential oil, succinic and crystalline terpineol, vicine, etc. During distillation, the largest amount (up to 35-40%) of pinene, which is of the greatest value, is released from the resin. However, the composition of different types of turpentine differs. The properties of turpentine are also influenced by the production method and the applied purification of turpentine oil. The melting point of turpentine is 169-175°, it is usually divided as follows: from 0 to 18° - liquid turpentine, from 18 to 70° - turpentine distillate without resin or camphor turpentine
