The functioning of the sebaceous glands can be influenced by individual characteristics, cosmetics, and age-related changes. Over time, hormonal levels change in the body, which affects the production of sebum; usually after 40 years, women begin to be bothered by excessive xerosis and mucous membranes.

The health of the epidermis largely depends on the amount of fluid you drink - it is recommended to drink 2 liters of water per day. When the body is dehydrated, not only does the facial skin become dry, but also breakdown products are retained in the body, which also negatively affects the condition of the epidermis.

With xerosis, wrinkles begin to appear prematurely and sagging appears. The first small wrinkles, if the problem is not corrected in time, quickly develop into deep ones, which are almost impossible to get rid of.

Another reason for tightness and discomfort is external unfavorable factors (cold wind, ultraviolet radiation, sudden temperature changes, etc.), poor nutrition, lack of vitamins and microelements, diseases of the nervous system, work in unfavorable conditions (hot workshop, outdoors, etc.). ).

Under certain conditions, a number of changes begin to occur in the epidermis; with a decrease in protective functions, rapid loss of moisture occurs, which leads to impaired blood circulation in tissues, collagen fibers, and decreased elasticity.

The main reason why the top layer of the epidermis peels off and moisture is lost from the cells is considered to be dehydration. First of all, when peeling appears, you need to pay attention to facial care products: use only special soft products for washing, use moisturizing lotions (without alcohol), gels, etc.

If you prefer to wash your face with soap, then you should choose soap that contains moisturizing cream or oil, and after washing your face, you should lightly pat your face with a paper napkin, wipe with toner and immediately apply moisturizer.

  1. Banana scrub. Mash the banana, add 2 tbsp. l. sugar and 5 drops of vanilla extract. Apply the mixture, lightly massage your face and rinse with warm water.
  2. Oatmeal mask. Oatmeal (1 tbsp) pour 2 tbsp. l. hot heavy cream. Leave for 5-10 minutes, apply to face, wash off after 15 minutes.
  3. Aloe mask. Suitable for sensitive skin around the eyes. Cut the aloe leaf lengthwise, clean out the pulp and apply the puree for 10-15 minutes.

After the procedure, be sure to apply moisturizer.

How to care for dry skin

Every skin type has its own home care rules. Here are some basic tips from a cosmetologist for those with dry skin:

  1. Don't wash your entire face in the morning. Otherwise, the protective barrier that forms on the skin overnight is washed away. It is enough to wash your eyes and brush your teeth.
  2. Monitor the water temperature. Do not take a hot bath or shower, as moisture from steamed pores will evaporate even more.
  3. Use soft water. Often tap water is too hard. Either filter it separately for washing, or use micellar and distilled water. Ideally with the addition of soothing herbal infusions (chamomile, for example).

Almond mask (wrap like paraffin). 100 g almond oil (or Vaseline oil), 2 cm. spoons of castor oil, 5-10 drops of benzaldehyde. This mask should be applied warm, almost hot, for 25 minutes.

  1. Fold gauze into 4 layers, moisten it generously with this fat, squeeze it out a little so as not to drip, place it on your face (make holes in the nose and mouth for breathing), cover the gauze with wax paper or tracing paper, and top with a warm scarf.

After such a mask, the facial skin will be very hyperemic, the blood flow will increase, and the nutrition of the facial skin will also improve.

The mask can be an independent procedure, as well as with the addition of a facial massage, which is done after it.

Yeast mask.

Yeast without soap powder, with the addition of cream or sour cream - for 15 minutes. If the skin feels tight, use a nourishing cream.

Nourishing flaxseed mask for dry skin irritated by cold and wind.

Flaxseed, 2 tbsp. spoons, cook in 2 cups of water until softened.

Apply to facial skin as hot as possible for 20 minutes.

Nourishing mask for very dry and irritated skin.

  1. Naphthalene ointment - 1 g,
  2. lanolin - 10 g,
  3. peach oil - 10 g,
  4. distilled water - 10 ml.
  5. Herbal infusion.

5 g of oak bark, string, chamomile, linden blossom, sage, mint - per 1 liter of water. Brew all this in 1 liter of water. Leave for 30-45 minutes, strain. Wipe your face; after cleansing your face, you can dilute a drying mask with this infusion of herbs. If there are no pustules, it is also good to dilute drying masks with calendula and distilled water after cleansing the face.

Yeast mask.
