Pimenta Dioecious

Myrtaceae - Myrtaceae. Common names: clove pepper, Jamaican pepper. Pharmacy name: pimenta fruits - Pimentae fructus (formerly: Fructus Pimentae).

Botanical description. Evergreen tree 6-15 m in height. The thin trunk has greyish-white bark that peels off easily. Homeland - Moluccas Islands; cultivated in the West Indies, Central and South America, especially Jamaica.

Active ingredients: essential oil with eugenol, caryophyllene, cineole, resin and tannin.

Application. It is used mainly as a seasoning, but also to increase appetite and as a bitterness to strengthen the stomach.
