Arthritis is an inflammatory disease of the joints that most often occurs in older age. However, young and middle-aged people also develop arthralgia, a form of the disease characterized by joint pain. In some cases, if it disappears quickly, it is mistaken for symptoms of some other disease - for example, myocardial infarction. Polyosteoarthrosis, in which degeneration of the cartilage tissue of the joints occurs, should be distinguished from arthritis. It is often observed in older people. Reactive arthritis, which is also associated with inflammation of the joints, but occurs against the background of an infectious pathological process, for example, enterocolitis, is not synonymous with the term.
