Affective automatism is when a person experiences emotions that are alien to him, caused by an imaginary influence. This type of mental disorder occurs unexpectedly and quickly manifests itself in inadequate reactions to events that cause a negative mood. Patients often have difficulty controlling their emotions and may experience significant impairment in their daily life.
Automatisms are automatic reactions that occur in response to certain stimuli or situations, in this case related to a person’s feelings. They manifest themselves in the rapid and unconscious activation of a specific physiological or behavioral process.
Symptoms of affective automatism may vary depending on the intensity and duration of manifestation. Some patients may have complex thought processes and suffer from increased anxiety or mood disorders. Others may exhibit symptoms such as moodiness, irritability, anxiety, and even aggression towards others.
