Cholinergic Systems

The cholinergic system plays an important role in regulating many body functions, including the nervous, muscular, and cardiovascular systems. It consists of cholinergic receptors that are found in all tissues of the body. These receptors respond to acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that is released from nerve endings.

The cholinergic system can be divided into two main groups: muscarinic and nicotinic receptors.
