Dorema ammoniacum (lat. Dorema ammoniacum) is a herbaceous plant of the Umbrella family (Apiaceae).
This is a powerful perennial plant that reaches a height of 2 m and has a hollow stem with a diameter of 5 cm. All parts of the plant, when damaged, secrete a white milky sap.
Dorema gum is found in the steppes and deserts of Iran, Afghanistan and Central Asia.
The main active ingredient is essential oil.
Previously, dorema gumacifera was used in expectorants and as a diuretic, as well as in the manufacture of plasters.
